A fire of unknown origin yesterday gutted a two-storey house at Crabwood Creek,

(From left) The house ablaze as the occupants survey the damage while being interviewed by fire officials.
Corentyne.
The building is owned by 49-year-old Bhagwatti Jagnanan, but she does not reside there. Jagnanan said that the house is occupied by her two children, Ravika Deen, 25, and Anika Deen 21.
According to reports, Ravika Deen lived in the upper flat of the house with her three children while her younger sibling occupied the lower flat.
Reports indicate that at the time of the incident no one was at home. Ravika Deen stated that she was at her mother’s home when she received a phone call from a neighbour, telling her that her house was on fire.
Deen said that when she arrived at the location the house was engulfed in flames, preventing her from saving anything.
The woman went on to say that it could not have been an electrical fire since the house does not have electricity.
According to information reaching Kaieteur News, two persons are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
