Dear Editor,
In 2012, I applied for a line phone service and met GTT personnel, Mr De Mahos, that assured me that phone service would be made available. I sought the intervention of certain prominent persons in the society hoping they could help. I sought the assistance of Freddie Kissoon, Dr. Rupert Roopnarine and Major-General Joe Singh. All three assured me they would talk to GTT personnel. All three told they did talk to GTT and promises were made to them to see what GTT could do.
Five years later, I am still without a phone though some residents in the scheme have received service. My name is Shivana Raghunandan. I live at 144 Clanbrook Village, Doch Cab Housing Scheme. As a single parent who works in Georgetown with my son preparing for CXC it is very difficult and expensive to depend entirely on a mobile phone which on occasions has to be charged. I recently saw the CEO of GTT proposing an expansion of services to the hinterland, it would be very heartening, my son wrote Common Entrance without the tools of the internet, I do hope that for CXC he could have these necessary items to support him, rather than uncomfortable paid visits to Internet Cafes.
Shivana Raghunandan
