Dyna’s Ravens edged Republic Bank Nets in a low scoring First Division encounter when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) League of Champions continued at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Ravens won 48-46 with point guard Dominic Vincente dropping 21 points and Ryan Stephney 16 points and eight rebounds. Carlos Edwards added 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Lawrence DeCosta had eight points.
The game was evenly poised until a second half offensive meltdown from Nets gift-wrapped the contest for Ravens. Nets only managed to score nine and three points respectively in the third and fourth quarters, which was the main cause of their demise.
For Nets, guard, Michael Richards and Mortimer Robertson had 11 points apiece, while Fabian Johnson scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Hodayah Stewart pitched in with nine points while Mortimer Williams had eight points.
In the Under-23 Category, Colts outlasted Pacesetters 77-73 with Colts’ guard Jonathan Mangra continuing his prolific scoring with 24 points. Forward, Timothy Thompson scored 15 points and collected 14 rebounds for his second straight double-double. Daniel Ramlagan scored 10 points with Jafar Gibbons adding eight points.
Pacesetters’ Tafaawa Daly scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while Marvin Durant had 20 points with eight rebounds. Jermaine Goddard and Quincey DosSantos were the next best scorers with six points each.
Eagles then prevailed 87-85 in a humdinger against Plaisance Guardians. Guard, Travis Belgrave led with 24 points, eight steals that showed he was also playing defence and 15 rebounds to upset Guardians that came in to the game with a win.
Darroll Williams scored 18 points while Kwesi Thompson finished with 12 points and eight huge rebounds as Lyndon Wilson added 10 points. Leon Ross chipped in with nine points to help Eagles soar to victory.
For Plaisance, Terrence Daniels poured in 23 points with eight rebounds and six steals; Andrew Johnson had 22 points while Akeem Crandon scored 15 points and took down 10 rebounds with Anthony Fileen adding 10 points.
