Dear Editor,
Honour her and honour her well – the late Diane McTurk. I pen those words to the past and present government of the day, the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) and the Tourism Sector of Guyana. D. McTurk deserves to be considered ‘ICONIC’ for her dedication, commitment and sterling contribution, for her work over the years with orphaned giant river otters and the tourism industry of Guyana. She is irreplaceable and I worry so much about what happens to the giant river otters she cared for so many years.
The very sad part for my adventure as an independent and private advocate for tourism over the years is that I was never fortunate to cross paths with her though we were under the same umbrella with our respective work.
I say to her immediate family members, relatives, friends etc that I choose to remember her in good spirits for the work she represented and I will not attend her memorial service because if I do, I could very well scale down with my work from the other end of the avenue. My memory with her is one that she is smiling and clutching in her bosom a giant river otter.
