Berbice continues to be the crime hotspot in Guyana when it comes to robberies. Many of the perpetrators are from that county, and have been associated with like-minded people from outside the county.
The police know who these people are, but corruption is playing a large part in the failure to arrest some of the perpetrators, many of whom conduct the same crime at the various locations. But this will end in a few weeks.

A river accident is going to force the authorities to consider patrolling the hinterland rivers. Young and unlicensed drivers are going to be responsible. Once more there would be the failure to observe the basic rules of the river.

At this time of the year when there seems to be more vehicles on the roads, motorists and pedestrians alike would be at risk because of the uncaring multitude. One accident on the eastern corridor would occur within hours, because one motorist did not heed the basic traffic rules.
