Trinidad (Newsday) -THE Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OSHA) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the Guyanese national who was killed after a gas truck exploded on the compound of EDASCO Limited in Longdenville last Friday.
Keshwar Ragoobeer, who, according to his family, was living in Trinidad, illegally, while working for gas transporting company, EDASCO Limited, died last Friday after a truck he was allegedly working on exploded.
Autopsy reports revealed that Keshwar’s wounds were consistent with blast trauma and that he was partially decapitated.
His sister, Mohanee Ragoobeer, said that Keshwar had no experience or training in the kind of work he was doing for EDASCO Limited.
Police sources also shared with Newsday that the truck which exploded was moved from the compound to another one of the company’s yards further up the Longdenville Main Road and Ragoobeer’s blood was washed down from the scene of his crime.
According to Denorah Gill of OSHA’s communications department, OSHA is investigating the accident.
“The accident was reported immediately after it happened and an investigator was assigned to case,” said Gill.
Asked whether it was EDASCO or the police that reported the accident to them, Gill said, “We cannot release information on details because the investigation is still going on, but the agency is aware of the situation and we have somebody assigned to do the investigation that is already going on.” Central police are also continuing their investigations.
