Yesterday, two days after a 40-year-old man died after being beaten with a bat, the 18-year-old suspect surrendered to the cops, in the company of a pastor.
Ramesh Manbodh of 655 Best Village, West Coast Demerara, was reportedly attacked by the suspect two Thursdays ago after he had stopped his niece from speaking to the young man.
Reports are that the suspect followed Manbodh home and attacked him in front of his yard with a cricket bat. The victim was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he later succumbed.
He died from a fractured skull and bleeding in the brain.
Kaieteur News was reliably informed that the suspect, who knew Ezekiel Thomas, the Pastor of the Faith and Grace Church in La Parfaite Harmonie, went to him and pleaded that he accompany him to the police.
The pastor took the suspect to the Leonora Police Station where the young man gave a statement after which he was taken into custody.
Divisional Commander (ag) Leslie James confirmed that the suspect has surrendered.
Investigations are ongoing.
