Greenwich Park Primary School defeated Zeelugt Primary by 117 runs to win the final of the Guyana Cricket Board/Scotiabank Kiddy Progression one cricket tournament which was contested recently on the East Bank of Essequibo.
Batting first, Greenwich amassed 197-3 off their allotted 14 overs. Shane Rodrigues struck 110, while M. Khan made 27 and K. Smith 17. Zeelugt responded with 80-4. Adesh (only name given) made 42; Rodrigues took two wickets.
Greenwich overcame Blake Primary in their semi final encounter. Greenwich took first strike and managed 180-6 with B. Veerasammy scoring 103 and M. khan 16. Blake replied with 114-3. Mickey Sumiah made 48.
Zeelugt got the better of St. Lawrence by 71 runs in their match up. Zeelugt batted first and posted 128 while St. Lawrence responded with 57.
St. Lawrence beat Philadelphia in the preliminary round. Batting first, Philadelphia got 99-9 with Navine Harripersaud scoring 33; Anthony Joseph took three wickets. St. Lawrence made 100-6 in reply. Joseph made 26 and Suresh Narine 24.
Blake defeated Tuschen. Tuschen scored 151 all out taking first strike, while Blake responded with 152-3. S. Rupi made 49 and Mickey Sumaroi 35.
Zeelugt beat Parika. Zeelugt managed 142, batting first. V. Dass struck 52. Parika were restricted to 74; Dass picked up four wickets.
Greenwich got the better of Parika Salem. Parika Salem scored 113, taking first turn at the crease. M. Khan got 32. Parika Salem made 60 in reply. (Zaheer Mohamed)
