Dear Editor;
The Ministry of Agriculture’s nursery at Charity has been without tangerine plants for the longest while. It is the only source of supplies for the Regions I and 2 districts. It stifles the productive drive not having more of this fruit on the market.
With its land line service being out of order, too much precious time along with travelling money is just being wasted to go there in vain. A return trip is as much as three thousand dollars.
From enquiries made, it could not have been ascertained when these plants would be put on sale again. Unavailability for such plants for an inordinate period of time in a predominantly agricultural area leaves much to be desired.
There seems to be some neglect with regard to the fact that the entire Region depends on the nursery for supplies with the ugly situation being most unacceptable when better needs to be done for the farming community. My main concern is to get only six more of these plants for my orchard with an appeal for help from anyone as to where it could be obtained.
B Persaud
