The police have questioned a Mashabo man whose wife burnt him with an iron to his face. The man was also detained by the police after his initial version of his story turned out to be a fabrication.
The man who didn’t take the burn to his face lightly, took the same hot iron to burn his wife to her back and under her chin. The police questioned the couple and detained both, but the wife was eventually released.
According to the man’s mother, ever since the couple got married some years ago, they were also in the habit of quarreling and fighting constantly.
The woman said that due to the constant friction between the couple, she chose to take care of her son’s eldest daughter. On the day in question, the woman said that her son and his wife were quarreling when the wife took a hot iron to his face.
The man’s mother said her son face peeled off after the incident but he didn’t take the incident lightly. He took the same iron and he burn his wife in her back and under her chin.
The man however told the police that he fell to the ground and sustained the injury to his face but the police did not buy the man’s story.
Under pressure the man later revealed the truth. He wanted to shield his wife from any intended implication with the law.
