Man accused of having sex with neighbour, 11, arrested
The police have arrested an Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara man after receiving information that he may have been having sex with his 11-year-old neighbour.
Police sources confirmed that a medical examination was performed on the child and showed signs of sexual activities.
The man is said to be in his late 40s.
According to information received, neighbours observed the child entering the man’s home Wednesday night and after suspecting that something was wrong, they called the police.
When ranks from the Leonora Police Station went to the house, they found the child in the man’s home.
He was subsequently taken into custody and the child was taken for a medical examination.
This newspaper was told that the minor was a frequent visitor to the man’s home.
Investigations are ongoing.
