A Corentyne businessman was robbed of $2M yesterday morning just as he was about to make a deposit at a Republic Bank branch located in Rose Hall Town, Corentyne.
According to reports, Ramlingan Mangali, co-owner of Permaul’s Snackette and a wholesaler, was about to make a deposit of $2M at the bank around 10:20 hrs when a gunman approached him and demanded that he hand over the bag containing the cash.
Mangali gave the robber the bag and the perpetrator made good his escape.
According to eyewitnesses, the robber running a distance away, was picked up by a motorcyclist.
Commander of B Division, Ian Amsterdam said that no arrest has yet been made.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that the businessman has been robbed at that location.
In 2014, Mangali was robbed of $10M as he was preparing to make his deposit.
However, the bandits had discharged a number of rounds in the air during that robbery.
