The Guyanese pair of the Girls 14 Doubles Ciara Pooran/Kalyca Fraser defeated Kobi Wilcott/Marll Rowe 7/5 in the semi-finals last Friday before losing to Jenna Harrison/Lauren Fullerton 6/1 in the final in Guyana’s best performance in the 2016 Blue Mountain Tennis tournament which commenced last week Monday in Jamaica.
Guyana’s Jeremiah Kalekyezi got the better of Sebastian Bjuro of the Cayman Islands 6/3 6/1 in the Boy’s Consolation U-12 semis but lost to Jakub Nevril from the Cayman Islands 6/1 6/2 in the final.
Heimraj Reaul, playing in the Boy’s under-14 division on Tuesday, registered the first victory by a Guyanese when he defeated Jake Serpell of the Cayman Islands 6/2 6/0.
Also in Tuesday’s action U-12 Girl, Sarah Klautky defeated Jamaican Katherine Dibbs 6/3 5/7 (14/12) while in the Boy’s U-12 division, Anish Sharma of Guyana beat Arjan Trehan of Jamaica 6/4 2/6 (11/9)
They were the only Guyanese to win matches as the young South Americans struggled to post victories but according to Coach Shelly Daley-Ramdyhan they would have gained valuable experience from the trip despite their lack of success on the Court.
