Guyana got off their Regional U17 campaign on a positive note after defeating the Leeward Islands by 44 runs yesterday. Guyana managed 92 for 9 batting first after the game was reduced to 26 overs at Inshan Ali Park.
Sachin Singh made 22, Joshua Persaud 19 and Ashmead Nedd 14.Bowling for Leewards Elroy Francis had 4- 11 and Euri Smith 1-7. Leewards were skittled for 48 in 21 overs in reply.
Joshua Grant made 14 as man-of-the-match Bhaskar Yadram grabbed 4-7 in 3.4 overs including a hat-trick while Kevin Sinclair, Nedd and Kevlon Anderson had one each.
At National Cricket Centre, Barbados beat Jamaica by 40 runs. Batting first, Barbados got to 191-7 off 45 overs, taking first strike while Jamaica responded with 155 all out. (Player of the match Joshua Aaron Bishop of Barbados).
At Gilbert Park, host Trinidad and Tobago overcame Windward Islands by 78 runs. Trinidad and Tobago took first knock and scored 171-9 off 50 overs, while Windward Islands made 93 all out in 27.3 overs in reply.
