Jul 06, 2016 Letters
Dear Editor;
On behalf of the Director of Children’s Services, Ms. Ann Greene this letter serves to bring your attention to another unfortunate case of erroneous reporting on the part of your newspaper, Kaieteur News in the article entitled “CPA employs efforts to return children to biological families” dated July 5, 2016.
Please be advised that, at present, there are 182 children with 116 foster parents who receive monthly financial assistance and psychosocial support through the Foster Care Programme. The Childcare and Protection Agency wishes to extend sincere appreciation for the continued support you have shown to the Agency’s work as we seek to improve the lives of Guyana’s children. Once again, we reiterate our belief that the influence of the media has a profound effect on the lives of Guyanese and, as such, cannot be underestimated.
