“It seems like U-10 sprinter Kcaysha Medas-King and Brenessa Thompson have a few things in common, they keep getting better and better as the season goes on,” those were the thoughts of Kcaysha’s father Andy.
Medas-King motored her way to three titles at the USATF New York Junior Olympic Track & Field two-day Championship at the world renowned Ichan Stadium in Manhattan the previous weekend to become the fastest 9-10 sprinter in New York finishing ahead of all her competitors in the 100m, 200m & 400m and has qualified for the region 1 Championship in Albany from July 7-9.
The talented lass raced to victory in the 100m in a time of 14.18 seconds, the 200m in 28.5 seconds and the 400m in 104.35 seconds.
Her results were repeated again yesterday in Manhattan at the Ichan stadium where Usain bolt set his first ever world record in the 100m in 2008 in what was considered to be the best Olympics to date.
Yesterday at the same Stadium, Medas-King won the 100m in 13.99 seconds to better her last week effort over the same distance. Her time of 28.87 in the 200m was slightly slower that the time she ran a week ago as was her 104.65 over 400m which was ran yesterday at the North East Invitational.
The nine-year-old sped to easy wins in all three events to be crowned not only the fastest 9-10 girl in New York but the entire North East Coast.
Guyana would have a chance to see Medas-King run at the prestigious Hershey Games at Millersville University in Pennsylvania State this weekend.
Those in Guyana can watch the action in the Pennsylvania meet by logging on to usatf.tv and clicking on the Hershey’s games banner from the comfort of their homes cheer on Guyana’s own Medas-King as takes on some of the best athletes across the United States of America.
The following week Medas-King would be competing against the best in the region once again for the top spot to see who is the best athlete across region one.
