(Kaieteur News) – Berbice will become the centre of Guyana’s drag racing action on Sunday, October 11, when the Berbice Drags Invasion 2026 takes over the Rose Hall Canje Airstrip.
Organised by the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC), the event is scheduled to get underway at 10:00hrs and is expected to attract a strong field of competitors and thousands of motorsport enthusiasts from across the country.
The Rose Hall Canje Airstrip will provide the stage for a full day of high-speed competition, featuring a variety of performance and modified vehicles as drivers battle for supremacy in their respective classes.
With drag racing continuing to build a strong following in Guyana, the Berbice Drags Invasion is expected to provide another major platform for the country’s growing performance-car community, while giving fans an opportunity to witness some of the fastest machines on the local circuit.
The event is being supported by a number of major sponsors, including ENet, Tropical Shipping, Castrol, GuyOil and KFC.
Ahead of race day, the GMR&SC will host a mandatory competitors’ meeting on Wednesday, October 7, at 18:00hrs at the club’s Thomas Lands office.
All registered competitors are strongly encouraged to attend the meeting, where officials will address critical aspects of the event, including race procedures, safety protocols, vehicle classes, staging, regulations and arrangements for race day.
The meeting is expected to ensure that drivers and their teams are fully familiar with the rules and operational requirements before competition begins.
Meanwhile, organisers have reminded prospective competitors that registration closes on Thursday, October 8.
The registration fee is G$20,000, while entries submitted after the deadline will incur a G$10,000 late fee, taking the total cost of late registration to G$30,000.
Drivers are therefore being urged to complete the registration process before the deadline to avoid the additional charge.
Spectators will also have several options for enjoying the action. General admission has been set at G$3,000 for adults and G$1,000 for children.
For fans seeking a more premium experience, the J’s Supermarket VIP section will be available at G$25,000, with the package including unlimited food and drinks.
