Road material that is dangerous to health

Dear Editor,

The Ministry of Public Infrastructure is currently reconstructing major roads on West Coast of Demerara. Materials (sand, loom and cement) and machines are stored on an empty privately owned, lot at Uitvlugt Front, West Coast Demerara, which is surrounded by resident houses.
The materials, particularly, the sand and loom are packed higher than the concrete enclosure on the lot. The machine used to mix the sand, loom and cement is noisy, and produces remnants from the mixture which is very hazardous to the neighbouring residents. Residents include a five week old baby other children ages foul-to fifteen years, a 50 year pregnant woman, two young women and with children
We, the residents are grateful to the government for their initiative in the country’s infrastructure. However, the health and well-being of the nation’s citizens is a priority. With this in mind, we seek your kind consideration in finding a different location preferably — a designated government reserve to store and process materials to facilitate the infrastructure. This would protect the health and well-being of the neighbouring residents. Thanking you in anticipation of your consideration and prompt action
