‘I know Orin woulda kill somebody in that house,” were the words of a bystander at the scene of yet another murder in Sophia.
Orin Jules, 28, who is no stranger to the police, at approximately 9:00hrs Saturday morning,
fatally stabbed his younger brother, 23-year-old Dexter Jules, at their Lot 634 “D” Field, Sophia home.
According to Wayne Jules, another brother, Orin is a marijuana addict and had the habit of terrorizing the family almost on a daily basis.
He described his brother, Orin, as a “miserable person.” Wayne noted that even his mother had to migrate to the USA to escape the torment of his older brother.
The family has a shop at their home which the suspect is not allowed to enter. Wayne told this publication that Dexter was preparing to go to the market to restock the shop when the stabbing occurred.
He stated that he was entering the shop when Orin barged in behind him. Upon seeing this, Dexter immediately reprimanded him saying; “Orin you’re not supposed to be in here.”
Upon the reprimand, Orin reportedly became infuriated and had to be taken out of the building by Wayne. Once on the road, Orin started making threats of burning the shop down and chopping his siblings.
Wayne said that he tried to calm his brother down but to no avail.
Dexter at the time was standing a short distance away from the building at the road side when his older brother (Orin) rushed him with a knife and stabbed him in the chest.
Upon seeing this, Wayne related that he shouted “Run Dexter! Run!”
He continued that Dexter ran a short distance before collapsing just a few metres away from their home.
When Kaieteur News visited the scene of the crime, the murder weapon, a kitchen knife was still lying in the grass a short distance away from the Jules’ home.
A neighbour said that he heard someone shouting “That man gon kill he!” and rushed out of his house only to see Dexter lying on the road bleeding profusely.
He stated that he saw Wayne running out of the yard and Orin running up the street. He said that he and another individual started chasing the suspect, who subsequently “stashed” himself in a clump of bushes.
The neighbour said that they surrounded the area while others called for the police.
The suspect was eventually apprehended and placed under arrest. He was then taken to the Turkeyen Police Station. Commander of ‘C’ Division, Calvin Chapman, when reached for a comment, told Kaieteur News that a post mortem of the deceased will be done on Monday after which the suspect is expected to be charged.
