President David Granger yesterday received a courtesy call from members of the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG), who presented him with a prayer for the nation etched on a brass-plated plaque.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of the Presidency.
“The prayer was done by the CIOG’s Director, Sheikh Moen ul-Hack on the occasion of Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary,” the Ministry said.
“The visiting delegation also informed the Head of State of some of the ongoing programmes that are spearheaded by their organisation as well as events that are planned for and after the Holy Month of Ramadan.”
