As part of the Country’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations the Mayor and Town Council of Rose Hall Town in collaboration with the Flying Ace Cycle Club of New Amsterdam (FACC) have organised two cycle events for today on the Corentyne Highway.
Whilst one is a forty miler the other is a sprint event. The 40 mile race is expected to ride off from Independence Arch Road at Rose Hall Town to the No. 51 Police Station and back to its place of origin.
Prizes will be presented to the first six finishers, the first three Under-16 and first two females; eight sprint prizes will also be at stake. At the completion of that event a sprint race will be held from Alness to The Independence Arch. Prizes will be awarded to the first two finishers.
A cross country event around the two of Rose hall Town will follow the cycling events. Mayor Vijay Kumar Ramu is expected to be on hand to start the events and assist in the distribution of prizes. (Samuel Whyte)
