As preparations continue for Guyana’s quest to retain their Short Range title at next month’s West Indies
Fullbore Shooting Council (WIFBSC) championships set for Antigua from May 16-22, corporate support has began to roll in.
Faced with a budget of $4-6 million to make their trip a reality, GuyanaNRA Secretary Ryan Sampson informed that the association has sent out letters to numerous corporate entities for support.
So far, assistance would have been received from the Bank of Guyana, C&V Shipping, Hand in Hand Mutual Fire & Life Insurance Companies and Noble House Seafoods Ltd.
“We are very thankful to these entities that’ve come on board so far to assist us in realizing this challenging budget that we have to offset. It is always a challenge for us but we are up to these tests since we have to master the changing winds on the range in order to succeed, and we have been doing so as the best in the Caribbean and even
further afield.”
Team Guyana, Captain Mahendra Persaud (Captain), Dylan Fields (Vice Captain), Lennox Braithwaite (Caribbean Individual Champion), Ransford Goodluck, Leo Romalho, Peter Persaud, Sherwin Felicien, Terrance Stuart, Ryan Sampson and Head Wind Coach Paul Slowe commenced training on Sunday last
at the Timehri Range.
Competition in Antigua, which only has a Short Range, will be at the 300, 500 and 600 yards ranges for the Milex Trophy, symbol of supremacy in the Caribbean. Guyana will be the team to beat.
