Soldiers among four remanded for ganja in bedroom
Two soldiers were among four men remanded to prison yesterday, after denying a drug trafficking charge read

to them by Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ranks, Delon Barrington, 21, of East Ruimveldt and Jude Lovell, 22, of Reliance Place, South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown along with Timothy St Hill, 35, of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara and Jeremiah Lovell, 22, also of Reliance Place, South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Particulars of the charge alleged that on April 2, they had 260 grams of cannabis in their possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Simone Payne told the court that on the day in question, a party of policemen went to 161 Reliance Place, South Ruimveldt Park where they conducted a search. She said that the defendants were at the time occupying the premises and the drugs were found in one of the bedrooms.
However, St. Hill claimed that he does not reside at the address and was only visiting someone at the time.
Corporal Payne indicated that the police file is still incomplete due to statements and an analyst certificate is outstanding.
The matter has been adjourned until April 26, for reports.
