Dear Editor,
The letter published in Thursday Kaieteur News Headline – Hamilton Green should explain why he did not testify, written by Shakuntala Lall, seeks to put in question, the letter published by me dealing with the Dr. Walter Rodney CoI.
I Hamilton Green would only testify based on empirical evidence, facts, knowledge and creditable circumstances. As such, there was no need for me to give any evidence that went beyond the above.
If I had wanted to speculate, I may have gone beyond the fact that Dr. Rodney and his brother identified a spot outside the walls of the Georgetown Prison and could have suggested that the walkie-talkie or explosive device was intended to break the walls of the prison, allowing the prisoners to escape in mass to cause mayhem and confusion in the middle of the City, as part of a revolutionary process.
In my letter I did not do any of the above, as most of witnesses did – hearsay, gossip and third-hand information. His brother who was driving the car is yet to explain why that location was identified. Not the Parade Ground, not outside a Sports Club, not outside the Seawalls or anywhere else.
Shakuntala Lall continues the use of the word assassination, which suggests that someone other than Rodney caused his death with all the evidence presented. This has not been established and the only creditable theory is Gregory Smith’s account of the incident
Lall must know that the Report is shameful with one obvious intention as a propaganda tool by the PPP. I thank Lall for the recommendation that I should write, well I have already completed a draft to deal with events that led up to our Independence Jubilee. The article will be titled “Our Rocky but Righteous Road to independence.” If Lall address is sent to me, I will send a complimentary copy to him when it is published.
Hamilton Green
