Western Tigers FC installs new executive tomorrow afternoon

They had won the 2009/10 version of the prestigious Kashif and Shanghai Football title, their biggest achievement to date. The club sports quite a formidable squad of players, the likes of Randolph Wagner, Phillip Rowley and Dwayne Ali among others yet Western Tigers FC have not been able to ride the wave after that win and the pundits believe that, instead of propelling the club to greater achievement, the K&S victory had been divisive and spelled the beginning of the end of the team out of West Ruimveldt.
Two years after that momentous victory, the then President of the club, Gordon Gilhuys, the man who had led the club to that accolade, resigned paving the way for fresh faces to assume the lead.
Naturally, the club underwent dire straits until another election where Roger Moe assumed the helm. It seems though, that the club’s administration needed a boost if only to improve the fortunes of the entity since the players have failed to win a major tournament of recent much less replicate the K&S victory.
It is with this reality in mind that the membership convenes tomorrow morning to elect an executive body in the hope of putting together a winning team to conduct the affairs of the club while reversing its fortunes.
Sources close to the club intimated that Ansa McAl executive, Troy Cadogan, has accepted a nomination for the presidential post, while several other ‘hopefuls’ will vie for other prestigious positions including Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Assistant Secretary Treasurer among others.
Kaieteur Sport spoke with Rolex Scott, a former goalkeeper, who also comprises an integral part of the coaching staff. He receives support from former national striker, Anthony Stanton and admitted that the club is talent laden but lacks the type of managerial structures for the transition among the other top teams. It is for this reason that the membership has nominated Cadagon for the post.
Among some of the immediate plans in train is the construction of the clubhouse, the grading and rehabilitation of the ground and the erection of the fence.
Outgoing Treasurer of the Club, Allan Walker, will not be seeking re-election but states that he will be available to render services to the club as the need arises.
Meanwhile, the new President is expected to roll out his plans and projections for the club upon the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting. Activities get underway at 10:00hrs.
