Smelly air and moldy carpets at the CJIA

Dear Editor,
Please permit me a space to write this letter in your newspaper to put forth my personal observation about the cleanliness of the Cheddie Jagan International Airport. I am a regular traveler to North America and every now and then to a few Caribbean countries so I spend a lot of time passing through the CJIA. However, I’m disappointed at the way the airport is being kept since, the floors as well as the washrooms are from my opinion not of international standard and it should be since this is the first place persons touch down when visiting for the first time or like me travel regularly.
Further, I had a few times to visit persons that are employed by the airport and the conditions aren’t much better in the office area. The carpets are not kept properly and it smells of insecticide and moldy despite you may see a cleaner brushing the carpet. Now with the previous administration, the same thing was happening but I’m surprised that this current administration hasn’t observed that there needs to be improvement in the cleaning and maintenance of this important place. We want to expand on tourism but this matter doesn’t speak well of what tourists will think about our country when they encounter this. So I’m calling on the Chief Executive Officer of the Cheddie Jagan “International” Airport to look into this matter since it’s not a good reflection on the people in charge and certainly not a good reflection on our country.
