Dear Editor,
I wish to bring to your esteemed attention the continuous attacks by a young man named Johnny aka Mechanic on the female residents of the Holy Family Home on Vlissengen Road.
His late mother was a resident there prior to her demise. He has broken and entered there twice this week including last night. He was caught this morning with the vinolay rolled up and fled leaving his hammer. In the past he has stolen all the food from the fridge, gas bottles and fittings from their stoves.
The part that is sad as well as infuriating is the fact that repeated reports have been made to the Albertown Police Station and never once have their attempted to visit or investigate.
Detailed descriptions have been provided and the liming spot of the perpetrator have been provided, yet no action has been taken to arrest this Johnny from Leopold Street opposite the Trinity Manse.
Apparently, they are waiting until one of these women has been brutally murdered. They have put on laths on the windows and he has removed them, broken locks while they helplessly call for the police who never appear.
I hereby ask you to please expedite the publishing of this letter because only when Mr. Glenn Lall exposes then action is taken.
These women have contributed to this society; one even served in the Police Force. I beg the question: How can the police continue to ignore these women while they are preyed upon by a young man whose goal is to torment these helpless old women.
Last night he took away every bulb from the sockets. Stop this abuse or these women may have to picket the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Office of the President with their walkers and wheel chairs. Is this the Year of the Eldery or is this slogan vain spouting. Tormented (name supplied)
