A man who wounded another man and his son following an altercation is expected to be charged for the offences.
The man, Devindra Samaroo, called Vickey, 24, a labourer of Lot 1024 New Area, East Canje, Berbice is accused of wounding Latchman Ramoutar, called Kevin, 19, an employee of the Rose Hall Estate and Jairaj Ramoutar, called Robin, 49 a labourer, both of Lot 1166 New Area, East Canje, Berbice.
The incident allegedly occurred around 08:00 hrs on Sunday at New Area East Canefield, East Canje, Berbice.
According to information, on the day in question, Samaroo was drinking beer at one Prem’s shop in the said New Area, East Canje, Berbice, when he saw Jairaj passing on the street. Samaroo reportedly asked Jairaj if he is not going to mind his grandchild. Jairaj ignored him and continued on his journey. Samaroo continue to taunt Jairaj and subsequently went to him with a beer bottle and dealt him one lash to his face. The bottle burst and Jairaj sustained injuries to his face.
Jiaraj’s son, Latchman, saw what was happening and went to his father’s rescue. He too was attacked by Samaroo, who dealt him a stab to his left side neck with the broken bottle and then kicked him twice.
Samaroo was also injured as the bottle cut his right palm. He subsequently left the area and went away.
The two injured men were escorted to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where Latchman was admitted and underwent immediate surgery. He was subsequently discharged. His father Jairaj was treated and sent away.
Samaroo was later arrested and taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was treated and sent him away.
He was subsequently taken into custody at the Reliance Police Station pending investigations.
