The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) officially launched a website during a simple
Andrew Hercules
ceremony on Friday at Starr Computers on Brickdam; the website had been in the making for quite some time.
President of the GABA, Junior Andrew Hercules, was optimistic that the site (www.gabagy.com) will help to bring awareness to the association and affiliated clubs in Georgetown, as well as the sport of basketball, in Guyana.
The site is expected to provide player profiling, team profiling, player statistics, updates as well as live scores for games in the near future. The site is aimed at giving the sub-association greater scope to publish information on its work.
While stats for players have been limited to simply stats over the years, Hercules highlighted that GABA will be partnering with the Guyana Basketball Officials Council (GBOC), and long with the coaching association, to help eliminate such problems.
To that end, GABA and GBOC have planned workshops, as well as a few test runs, before the start of 2016. The site is expected to have 10 pages and will also provide spaces for sponsors to advertise on the site as a means of generating revenue.
