A labourer was on Wednesday placed on $30,000 bail after he appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, charged with aggravated robbery.
Esra Evans, also called “Black Boy”, 22, of 67 West Front Road, Ruimveldt, Georgetown, denied the charge which stated that on September 21, last at, Seawall Road, Georgetown, while in the company of others, he robbed Eon Peters of one cellular phone and $900 in cash.
This matter comes up again on October 19, for reports.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Shawn Gonsalves, explained that on the night of September 21, Peters was at the seawalls with a friend.
Shortly after midnight Peters was heading home when he was accosted by the defendant and six other men.
Gonsalves added that the men searched Peters and relieved him of his phone and cash.
The Prosecutor said that a mobile Police patrol arrived shortly after the incident, and Peters pointed them in the direction of the men.
When the Police went after the men they managed to apprehend the defendant. The others escaped. Evans was taken into custody and the charges were instituted against him.
Gonsalves said that during interrogation, Evans admitted to being present at the robbery scene, but denied stealing the items.
