Hair dresser, taxi driver remanded on cocaine charge

City Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan remanded two persons to prison yesterday, after they pleaded not guilty to a joint drug trafficking charge.
Cecile Browne, a 26 year-old cosmetologist of Lot 32 Lamaha Park, Georgetown, and Andre Pilgrim, 43, of Lot 83 Lamaha Street, Georgetown, allegedly had 12.314 kg of cocaine in their possession on September, 11, at Timehri Public Road, East Bank Demerara, for the purpose of trafficking.
The defendants were represented by Attorneys Mark Waldron and Adrian Thompson, respectively.
Thompson informed the court that Pilgrim is a taxi driver, who has eight children. He added that his client has no pending matters or prior convictions. Both Attorneys requested that statements in the matter be disclosed.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Bharrat Mangru did not relate any facts about what transpired on the day in question to the court.
The Magistrate subsequently adjourned the matter to October 9.
