Silvies General Store, of 31 High & Hadfield Streets, Georgetown, – opposite Parliament Buildings, – (with another branch at 44 High Street) is the proud sponsor of today’s Golf Tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club. The action tees off at 12:30pm.
Sales Manager Bramanand Persaud indicated that in spite of challenges in the commercial sector, his business has maintained its passion to contribute to golfing in Guyana in a significant way, hence today’s Tournament which Silvies was standing by to sponsor since July of this year! He gave praise to veteran golfer Mr Kishan Bacchus who initiated their interest in the sponsorship.
Grounds Superintendent of the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC), Mr Deanand Bissessar confirmed that the Golf Course is now in fine condition, with Fairways well cut and Greens, Bunkers and Tee-boxes all prepared for very competitive conditions. He is aware that local golfers are looking forward eagerly to this and succeeding tournaments, especially since the Surinam Invitational is upcoming and the Guyana Invitational is scheduled for end of October.
President Oncar Ramroop, through Public Relations Officer Guy Griffith, expressed gratitude to Silvies for its commitment to seeing golf develop in Guyana. Noting that Silvies General Store, in operation for some forty two (42) years providing Automobile and Motorcycle parts, and now also providingHardware, Electrical and Industrial Products and serving customers in the gold mining, construction, vulcanizing and manufacturing industries, Mr Ramroop is appreciative that their commitment to the commercial sector is now being shared with the golfing community.
Today’s 18-hole event is a medal play tournament.
