Despite going down to a Region two female open team in their final fixture, North Essequibo were declared champions of the 2nd Annual Clive Gobin Memorial round robin U15 20-over tournament which was contested on the Essequibo Coast. North ended with 12 points after registering three victories from four games, while South Essequibo and the female team finished jointly in second position with eight points apiece. NOC finished fourth on four points.

In the final round games played recently at Zorg, South defeated New Opportunity Corps (NOC) by eight wickets while the female side overcame North by 75 runs.
NOC batted first and scored 46 all out in 14 overs. Adrian Arthur captured 3-5 and Marlon Mc Farlane 3-10. South replied with 48-2, Amit Persaud scored 17.
Region two females batted first and posted 146 all out in 19.5 overs. Morvina Harris scored 43, Natasha Boson 31 and Anrita Mohabir 23; extras contributed 28. D. Ramdin snared 3-32. North were sent packing for 71 in 11.4 overs in reply. Alonzo Anthony scored 29 as Boson grabbed 5-17 from 2.4 overs.
Meanwhile, North went down to Clive Super XI by eight runs in another 5-over fixture organised to culminate the tournament. Batting first, Clive Super XI managed 98-8 in 20 overs. Silvan Williams scored 27, Davina Goberdhan 20 and Anrita Mohabir 18; John Marks grabbed 4-23.
Victory looked almost certain for North who were cruising at 88-6 in 16 overs in reply, but Clive Super XI rebounded emphatically to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat as North were bowled out without further addition to their total in 18.4 overs. Alonzo Anthony top scored with 33 while Kimion James made 19. Adrian Arthur bagged 4-15 and Marlon Mc Farlane 3-18. The Clive Super XI was made up of the outstanding performers from the other teams that participated.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Coach Forbes Daniels said much emphasis is needed at the grassroots level and called on the business sector for their support. Coordinator Raoul Ruplal thanked the sponsors Derick Gobin Agri spares, Thakur Persaud Hardware and Nandkishore Singh lumber yard.
The Clive Gobin Memorial tournament is being held annually with the aim of developing U15 and female cricketers on the Essequibo Coast. Gobin was a former businessman.
