…organizers plan week of activities
As the people of Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, prepare to celebrate their 45th anniversary as a town, a number of organizations in the Municipality have come together and organized one week of activities in observance of the town’s birthday.
The organizations so far pooling their expertise and resources are the Rose Hall Town Interim Management Committee (RHTIMC), Rose Hall Town Anniversary and Development Organization (RHTADO) in collaboration with other stake holders.
A mixture of activities that will cater for everyone has been planned so far for the town’s Anniversary which is being held under the theme “One Goal, One Dream, One Team in 2015”
The activity is expected to kick off on Friday September 18 with an official opening ceremony and cake sticking activity in the Town Council Compound from 10:00 hrs.
The following day will begin with a gym feast and dip and win competition at the Lucky Dollar Store in Rose Hall Town from 08:00 hrs.
The evening is set aside for the popular comedy show “Nothing to laugh about 8” which will be staged at the Area H ground from 20:00 hrs.
The activity continues on September 22, with the annual Inter Primary School Spelling B competition for schools in the Rose Hall Town catchment area. The schools expected to participate are Tain, Rose Hall, Cropper and Port Mourant Primaries.
September 23 is Senior Citizens’ Day. Activities begin from 10:00 hrs and will see the senior citizens in the town being pampered, treated and feted at the Lucky Dollar Store.
The oldest business and former Mayor, Oliver Fraser will be recognized. Donations will also be made to the children housed at the Community Based Rehabilitation Centre.
Two activities are scheduled for Thursday 24th. The painting of all pedestrian crossings in the town is set to commence at 07:00 hrs. A Day of Sports is scheduled for the Area H Ground.
A school feeding programme will be held on September 25th, for 100 grade one students from the Rose Hall Town Primary School. They will be fed a nutritional meal.
The week’s activities are expected to hype on September 26th, with a grand street fair and exhibition at the Independence Avenue, Rose Hall Town from 13:00 hrs. A number of exhibitors have already given their commitment to be a part of the day’s event.
The night will culminate with an after party at the Area H Ground, featuring Slingers Sound System and Juggling among others. A number of organizations have so far indicated their willingness to be a part of the activities.
The Town Week celebrations is expected to end with a grand beach jam and fun day at the Rose Hall Town beach, beginning at 10:00 hrs to be followed by a basketball competition at the Area H basketball court from 17:00 hrs.
Many businesses in the town have so far indicated their willingness to be a part of the activities including Digicel, Republic Bank, Lucky Dollar, Home Line Furnishing, Ansa McAl, D Balram Shane General Store, Micheal Sinclair Tec Computer school and repair and Wynettes Beauty Salon among others.
