Mr Editor,
It is not business as usual and once you do the crime you have to serve the time. These were statements of potency pronounced by no other than President David Arthur Granger.
This utterance by His Excellency seems not to be fully understood by certain elements in our society who are entrusted with position of authorities and behave contrary to what is expected.
I refer to a much publicized matter involving a resident of Bartica. This resident was charged and placed before the courts for a massive fraud committed against his employer, Mohamed’s Enterprise. After several court appearances the accused with the aid of associates has resorted to the Bartica Hospital for refuge. There his mother is the steward.
To further compound this conspiracy is the involvement of a doctor who has been under the radar for several wrongdoings. It is most unfair to the complainant and a travesty of justice that a prisoner who should be in prison, has been comforted at an institution for the sick.
I am calling on the Commander of the Division to seek a second opinion from the Force’s medical practitioner and remove the prisoner from his comfort zone and have him place in the lockups until the determination of this matter.
The Bartica Police Station can ill afford this unwarranted and inexcusable exercise of having guards at the hospital guarding someone whose illness borders on convenience at a time when the station is always understaffed. Umar Saied
