Jul 04, 2015 Letters
DEAR EDITOR,
I will continue to serve the people in Region Five and also to highlight the wrongdoing and mismanagement that took place under the previous government that needs correction today.
I will continue to hold the PPP\C regional officials as the ones responsible for the underdevelopment of Region Five and also for misusing government assets for PPP\C work during and after elections. All of this will be done without fear and untruth in the sense of goodwill that we will move together in unity and strength in developing Region Five and Guyana.
I was very much astonished that one of my letters to the editor that was published in the Kaieteur News of Thursday July 7, 2015 under the caption “These PPP/C Officials should be prevented from using Govt. assets for party work”, for the first time has caught the attention of the REO and other PPP\C officials at the RDC.
As you may know I have been sending letters to the editor on a number of occasions based on issues in Region 5, 6, and Guyana at large. My intention in those letters is not to target anyone but to highlight the plight we had under the previous government that continues today under the said officials.
On the day of the publication above, around 11 a.m., I received a letter from the REO acknowledging that the published letter had been brought to his attention and he was asking for me to provide him, and I quote “with the details, names, times, dates and places in order that a proper and thorough investigation can be made and necessary action can be taken against the culpable officers” end of quote.
Well Mr. REO, you seem to have forgotten that I was never employed by the RDC or Government during the PPP\C tenure in office, much less to take information of the usage of government assets within the region on a day-to-day basis.
Mr. REO, it is you who are the CEO of the region, and therefore you should have the information as to the things you are asking me to provide so that action can be taken against those officials.
Maybe you will recall, or you might not, that the vehicles of the RDC were publicly used by the PPP\C during the recent election campaign. The vehicles were misused by all of the top officials during that period.
I was also told by employees of your RDC that a 30-seater minibus was purchased on behalf of the region but was used to take people across the country for PPP/C rallies and public meetings. In a previous letter I mentioned this, but you never challenged me. Why now, when it is becoming obvious that the PPP/C has abused the RDC and government assets over the years, would you want information from me, when you would easily be privy to such information as the REO?
I am willing to debate you on said misuse of public assets at the next RDC meeting or publicly. I will continue to highlight the mismanagement of this region at all times. The time has come for Region Five residents to come out and speak out on this matter, even if it’s only a few. I will assure the residents that this government will not sideline you for speaking the truth about any officials that are misusing their offices or government assets.
I will continue to expose the corruption that took place under the PPP\C in Region Five.
I thank Kaieteur News for allowing me to make the PPP/C officials have to think of what next will be made public that took place under their corrupt government and officials. This is what Guyana needs: democracy and freedom of speech. This newspaper has given us the privilege to share what is most important with the public.
