“As a nation, Guyana has to do everything in its power to make sure that every one of its youths fulfills their potential. Our youths are our future and unless we give them every opportunity to excel, we are down as a
country.”
Those were the words of long serving Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster as the club launched a historic 40 page booklet for youths in conjunction with Edward B. Beharry Co. Ltd.
The booklet, which was produced and edited by the Educational and Public Relations Committee along with the club’s Cricket teams, is the only of its kind in Guyana. Foster expressed confidence that it would play a vital role in getting youths in Region 6 to better understand topics of importance to them.
The booklet offers advice to youths on a wide range of issues including Public Speaking, Manners in the Classroom, HIV/AIDS, Suicide, Table Manners, Drug Abuse, How to Conduct a Job Interview, Importance of Education, Importance of Discipline, Personal Hygiene, Role of a Sports Ambassador, Choosing Friends, Peer Pressure and Public Manners among others.
The booklet also features important information on Guyana, the Government, the National Pledge and National Anthem. Special messages from the RHTY&SC and Mrs. Anjuli Beharry – Strand of Beharry are also part of the booklet along with numerous Quotations for Youths.
The main aim of the booklet which would be distributed to all schools and clubs in Berbice free of cost, is to assist youths to make correct life decisions and to avoid the social ills of society. Marketing Manager of Edward B. Beharry Co. Ltd Satesh Singh at the booklet lunching called on youths to think wisely about the choices they make and to always strive for excellence.
He urged them to take full advantage of the opportunities presented to improve themselves. The booklet also features words of advice from the Rose Hall Town Farfan and Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Metro Female and Gizmos and Gadgets First Division and Under-21 teams.
