Dear Editor,
I am a pensioner and live at 93 Prince William Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara. A post is erected in my yard where a GPL wire comes from the road to the post and then to my house. The post has been there for the last 15 to 20 years. It is rotten from top to bottom.
I made several applications for GPL to switch the wire from the post to my house. I paid $3,200 on the 16th December 2014 to switch the wire to the house. I must mention there is another wire that is attached to a lot adjacent to my house.
After calling and visiting the company many times, they sent a crew to switch the wire. The foreman said the main post on the road is rotten and he would not be sending his men up that post to cut off the current.
Another set of men came after a long time to switch the wire, they said they got instructions to switch my wire only, and they cannot do it and leave the other wire without current.
The post in my yard is going to collapse at any time. GPL wants to put the other wire on my house, I objected to that. GPL has power lines on the road opposite to this house. To date the live wire is still on the rotten post. I would like it to be taken off because it is obviously dangerous. I would be grateful if the GPL could fix this situation immediately.
