DEAR EDITOR,
In a couple of days we will be observing Mothers’ Day, much to the delight and excitement of not only mothers, but of children, husbands, friends and all. It is indeed a special day.
I shall not address the origin and significance of the day, but I will question on what basis we say Mother’s Day and not Mothers’ Day. As I understand it, the day is set aside in many countries in the world –though not on the same date–to give recognition of the contributions mothers would have made to the lives of their loved ones.
I sincerely believe that the day should be Mothers’ Day and not Mother’s Day. The same can be said of Father’s Day. If this is an error, should it not be corrected? Francis Carryl
