Under 19 all-rounder Khemraj Mahadeo propelled Rose Hall Town Bakewell ‘A’ to a crushing 10 wickets victory over arch-rivals Port Mourant in the opening rounds of the BCB New Building Society 40 overs Second Division Tournament.
Playing at the Area ‘H’ Ground, RHT Bakewell made light work of the visitors with Murray claiming 5 wickets for 27 off 7.2 overs, while Mahadeo made 62 not out from 46 balls.
Port Mourant were asked to bat first after RHT Bakewell skipper Major James Fraser won the toss. They soon found themselves in trouble at 22 for 4 by the 7th over as Murray in a high class display of pace and swing, dismissed Nicholas Cameron 00, Andy Mohan 01, DavendraThakurdeen 10 and D. Seenarine 00 cheaply.
YogindraSeenarine and S. Kistasammy then added 45 for the 5th wicket in 15 overs before West Indies female pacer Erva Giddings trapped Kistasammy LBW for 3. No one else offered resistance to the experienced RHT Bakewell bowling attack. Harrinarine top scored with a composed 44 which included five boundaries and a six. He was last out as Port Mourant were dismissed for 102 off 25.2 overs. Giddings supported Murray with 3 for 30 off eight overs while Denzil Sinclair had 1 for 15 from four overs. Extras supported the PMCC score with a healthy 23.
Needing to score 103 from 40 overs, RHT Bakewell coasted to an easy victory as Mahadeo and former Berbice Under 19 player Vidal Crandon tore into the Port Mourant bowlers with disdain. They raced to 105 without loss.
