Saddam, who drew the bye to the final, chalked up 90 games to overcome Strikers 66 and F&H 60. Ricardo Khan top scored for the winners with 17 games, Deodat Dass made 16. Rodney Harry recorded 17 for Strikers and Lyndon Boston contributed 15.
Allan Hinds was F&H’s leading scorer with 14 games; Kenrick Fraser made 13 and Hazim Hakh 12. Strikers marked 78 games to win the semi final encounter ahead of F&H 66 and Beacon 62. Mark Junior scored 17 while Harry and Sidney James 14 each for Strikers. Hakh made 17 and Charles Dopson 15 for F&H. Lloyd Rollins and Marlon Simpson were Beacon’ leading players with 15 apiece.
Khan won the Most Valuable Player award while Saddam took home a trophy and $200,000; Strikers a trophy and $100,000 and F&H a trophy and $50,000. Beacon and Mix Up collected a trophy and $20,000 and $10,000 each for placing fourth and fifth respectively.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, president of the Georgetown Dominoes Association (GDA) Faye Joseph congratulated the winning team and thanked the others for participating. She lauded the players for maintaining a high level of discipline throughout the tournament and encouraged them to continue in a similar vein.
Joseph noted that the sport is on the rise and thanked the sponsors and GDA Secretary Mark Wiltshire. The competition was sponsored by F&H Printing Establishment, JR Ranch, Jermaine Enterprise, August Beverages and Joseph. (Zaheer Mohamed)
