A labourer stood before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday, charged with the offence of break and enter and larceny.
It is alleged that between November 24 and 25 at James Street, Albouystown, Imran Rahaman broke and entered the storeroom of his nephew Ahamad Rahaman and stole one tool kit, three vehicle shacks, one socket kit, one racing car tyre, one scale and 14 saw blades valuing a total of $51,700 .
The charge was indictable and thus the accused was not required to plead.
Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones provided the court with particulars of the accused, who had no legal representation in court yesterday.
Jones told the court that Rahaman is forty years old, a labourer by profession and has had no previous brushes with the law. Prosecutor Jones objected to bail due to the fact, that Imran Rahaman did not provide the police with a proper address and therefore may not return to court.
The Magistrate upheld the Prosecutor’s objection to bail and the accused was remanded. The matter has been transferred to Court 3 for December 4.
