A 49-year-old contractor who was scheduled to appear yesterday morning at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court, was instead found hanging by a piece of wire attached to a beam under his Affiance School Street residence, around 5:30 yesterday morning.
Chandra Deo Persaud also known as ‘Broomstick’ was lifeless when one of his sons found him. Persaud, who was aligned as a contractor with the Region Two Administration, was scheduled to appear before Magistrate Sunil Scarce yesterday.
Persaud on one occasion was issued with a restraining order by the Magistrate after he and his wife apparently experienced domestic issues. Other reports have claimed that Persaud was in the habit of owing large sums of monies to his workers and business folks in the Region.
The man’s body was later retrieved from his home and taken to the Suddie Funeral Mortuary, where a Post Mortem Examination will be conducted. Sometime last week, a 24-year-old Devonshire Castle man died after imbibing a poisonous substance. He was however, hospitalised for two weeks before he succumbed.
