Dear Editor,
I would like to remind readers of what I wrote in my Tuesday column (last Tuesday, Sep 16). “ … so uninterested in stately matters is Ramotar that he is overjoyed to be saturated with ceremonies, country visits and foreign trips…one could well imagine, Ramotar, on hearing and seeing these things , probably says to himself, ‘let dem try deh, I got a foreign trip to look after.”
The researcher cannot keep up with his visits around the country, his presence at official ceremonies and his foreign trips. This is what the Ramotar presidency is all about. This is what Ramotar wants his presidency to be about. This week he addressed an education event, then opened the GT&T sponsored refurbishing of the UG labs then Friday the man was on a plane to New York
Ramotar will come back next week, and continue to engage in these things. Let me explain in this letter what I did in that Tuesday column in relation to the words, “let dem try deh.” It refers to the depravities and controversies within the Government that Ramotar does not know about or care to know and will not want to know about until the PPP replaces him in the next presidential elections
The nation should come around to the fact, however brutal or comical, the reality that Donald Ramotar sees the presidency in those inconsequentialities described above. He will not get engaged or involve himself in high policies. He likes the foreign visits, the garlanding he gets when he visits the interior communities, talking to rural East Indians and foreign trips
Look carefully at his visage when he opens GUYEXPO in a few weeks’ time. Look at the glee on his face, the gargantuan smiles, the joy of walking about the ground and visiting the pavilions. This is how he sees his presidency. The PPP has an obligation to itself to unceremoniously dump him for the new general elections. No country deserves should a nincompoop president
