Dear Editor,
Speed Humps are useful in situations where it is intended that road users must slow down in order to provide an atmosphere of caution at intersections or where there may be schools or places considered necessary for such installations.
Quite recently while traversing Delhi Street in Prashad Nagar I was unpleasantly surprised to be confronted by 14 such humps which in my opinion is an overdose; as I fail to see the potential hazards that may exist along the 3,000 plus foot carriageway. As a matter of fact, in the middle section of that street there are about 8 humps along that 1200 foot span of roadway.
This to my mind is a prime example of a waste of resources which could have been applied to many of the known accident prone intersections (such as North Road and New Garden Sts as well as Church Street and New Garden Sts) as well as to repair the many potholes on the streets of our City.
I am therefore appealing to the relevant authorities to exercise some prudence and commonsense when taxpayers monies are involved expenditure for projects such as the one outlined above. Alex Edwards
