The much anticipated Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) tournament commenced last night at Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground and will continue tomorrow with 10 matches at DCC and Enterprise.
As part of their preparation for the Guyana Softball Cup 4, the GFSCA have approved the use of white balls while the rules pertaining to all “Guyana Softball Cups” are in effect. The competition serves as a warm up for “Guyana Softball Cup 4” which will be held on October 31, November 1-2, next.
The tournament is being played in three categories: Male Open, Female Open, and Male 40 Years and Over (born 1974 and before). Teams can contact Wayne Jones at 650 1790 for more information.
Entrance fee is $10,000 for males while females are free. Winning prize in both male categories is $100,000 and trophies while the runners-up will receive $25,000 and trophies. The victorious female team will receive $50,000 and a trophy and the runner-up, $25,000 and trophy.
The tournament is being sponsored by Ramchand Auto Spares of Sheriff Street, Rohan Auto Spares of Mahaica, Mikes Pharmacy and Nauth Motor Spares of Sheriff Street, Ariel Enterprise of Regent Street, Trophy Stall of Bourda Market/City Mall, Romeo’s Oil Seal of Barr Street, Motor Trend of Enmore and Bel Air Rubis.
Fixtures for Sunday at DCC: Pitch 1 at 9:30hrs – Frontliners vs Floodlights, 12:30hrs Blue Divas vs Wellwoman, 14:00hrs – Wellman vs Slingers. Pitch 2 at 9:30hrs – Industry Super Kings vs Regal Masters, 12:30hrs – Trophy Stall Angels vs 4R Lioness, 14:00hrs – Wolf Warriors vs Regal.
Enterprise ground: Pitch 1 at 9:30hrs – Trophy Stall vs Challengers, 12:30hrs – Enmore vs Enterprise Legends, Pitch two at 9:30hrs – Farm vs Uprisers, 12:30hrs – Bel Air Rubis vs Fishermen Masters.
