Invaders Masters defeated Aurora Knight Riders by one run to capture the South Essequibo Cricket Committee (SECC) 40-over title last Sunday at New Opportunity Corps ground.
After being asked to bat in a game which was reduced to 35 overs due to rain, Invaders Masters scored 114 all out in 29.5 overs. Beesham Seepersaud led with 23; Anwar Baksh claimed 4-10 off seven overs, Rameez Mohamed snared 2 for 15 from five overs while there was a wicket each for George Phillips, Annand Maniram and Reyad Yusuf.
Aurora Knight Riders were bowled out for 113 in the 35 overs in reply. George Phillips scored 17 and Maniram 16. Bowling for Invaders Masters Devanand Madho picked up 3-14 from seven overs, Beesham Seepersaud 3-21 from seven, Rajesh Gopaul 2-5 from three and Linden Daniels 2- 9 off seven.
Invaders Masters took home the winning trophy donated by H. Persaud and Sons Gas Station of Johanna Cecelia along with $30,000 and Aurora Knight Riders, the runner up trophy and $20,000. Beesham Seepersaud was named Man of the Match. Eight teams took part in the competition.
