Clean up the diseased mess around food-sellers
Dear Editor,
There is a Trinidad-owned new restaurant complex at Avenue of the Republic and Robb Street, Georgetown. It is enveloped on the northern and eastern sides by two dirty drains filled with disease-infected, smelly, semi-stagnant water and also with a rubbish dump 100 feet away in front of the alleyway leading to Robb Street.
This kind of environment is not the place to serve and sell food and some people are bound to be infected.
Would the Public Health Authorities, the Government Analyst Food and Drug Department, the Guyana Consumers Association and the owners of the restaurants themselves immediately clean up this unhealthy environment? The M&CC will not do it so the restaurant owners themselves and others will have to do it.
This kind of dirty and unhealthy situation would never be permitted in Trinidad.
