One of Guyana’s top cycling club, the Flying Ace CC, on Saturday last held their 13th annual awards and presentation ceremony for its top performers for the year 2013 at the Sunshine Bar in New Amsterdam. Top cyclist Neil Reece yet again copped the award, winning for a fourth consecutive year.

Reece for his exploits and top achievements was awarded the Berbice River Bridge Company Incorporated Trophy. He was however unavoidably absent and his prize was collect by coach Randolph Roberts.
Veteran rider Syborne Fernandes, like good wine, continues to improve on both the road and track and show the younger cyclists how it is done by copping the runner award. Fernandes was also adjudged the best veteran rider of the club.
Elijah Brijader once again rode away with the top junior prize with Adrel Ross moving up from the juvenile category to cop the runner up spot.
Season campaigner Wazim Hassnu was also awarded for his consistent performance during the year.
Among some of the top cyclists to emerge from the club are Wazin Gafoor the Benjamin brothers, Gary and Wilbert, Peter Millington, Russell Allen, Rudolph Blair and female rider Rhonda Persaud among others.
Club Coach and founder Randolph Roberts gave an over view of the Club since its formation Some 27 years ago. Today it is one of the leading clubs in Guyana. He also challenged the other cyclists to step up and challenge the two top riders.
Roberts in his speech mentioned that 2013 was one of the more challenging years for the club. He said for the first time in years the club is without female riders.
He mentioned the challenges faced by the club, he however said that the club was able to maneuver and withstand the pressure.
He said that the club is a stronger unit. He took the opportunity to thank those who have stayed with and supported the club
Despite all the challenges, the FACC still shone bright among the other clubs in Guyana. It organised ten events which were by far the most organized by any local club.
Roberts a had special words of appreciation for Banks DIH Limited, The Guyana Beverage Company, Furniture World, Berbice River Bridge Company, Benjamin Sports, Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI), Anthony’s Funeral Home, Feroz Grocery, Bounty Farm and Water Chris Hotel among others.
