Dear Editor,
The headline said “Parents question relevance of Kuru Kuru Training College.” The litany that followed was appalling. After reading the article, I would even say the parents should have been questioning the Kuru Kuru College’s validity as a TVET training institution.
Even if the missing didactic personnel are replaced, I am of the opinion that there are other issues with the programme. Here it is an institution has admitted students and the Minister states at a press briefing what the training would entail. It seems that things are patched together along the way, there is no clear curriculum.
The revelations in that Kaieteur News article published on Sunday 16th February, 2014 beg the question. When are we going to establish a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) to replace this hotchpotch assemblage which passes for workforce training today?
I wonder what value industry places on graduates from this institution? Elton McRae
